About Us
Why does the Georgia Baptist Bible Fellowship exist?
Believing the man of God needs times of refreshing and renewing and that he needs encouragement from fellow preachers, and that the cause of evangelism is enhanced by joint effort; we, pastors of church of like independent Baptist persuasion, constitute the Georgia Baptist Bible Fellowship and declare that we are in fellowship with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International.
By “fellowship” we mean a group of men participating in a common effort. The only way to be a part of this Fellowship is to participate in the common effort. This is not an organization one can join in the traditional sense of applying for membership, rather, being in fellowship implies participation in the common effort.
By “common effort” we mean: (1) preaching that refreshes the man of God so he may do the work of God, (2) encouraging one another in the work of God and (3) assisting in establishing independent Baptist churches.
The GBBF meets on the first Thursday of each month with some 35-50 pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and other full-time workers attending the meeting. Over the years, literally thousands of dollars have been given to help start churches in the state. In the past 15 years, over twenty churches have been assisted financially and prayerfully by the GBBF. The GBBF has also provided money for special projects such as buying land and constructing buildings. The GBBF is recognized throughout the state of Georgia as a strong fellowship with a burden for church planting. Each year, the GBBF participates in the Statewide Independent Baptist Fellowship meeting held in the early spring. The annual Pastor’s & Wives Retreat, usually held in March, has become one of the highlights of the year.
